Why it matters
The regulation behind real compostability
Under India's Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, manufacturers of compostable products must obtain CPCB certification, and compostable plastics are specified under IS/ISO 17088 by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Compostable materials are designed to fully break down within a defined period under controlled conditions — unlike "oxo-biodegradable" or vaguely "biodegradable" alternatives, which can persist or fragment into microplastics. Auravail's CLEAN GREEN® products biodegrade within 147 days.
